The Most Expensive Pair Of Earrings Sold At Auction!
Another phenomenal natural color diamonds was sold by Sotheby's recently and this time it is an exquisite pair of trendy mismatched earrings with the highlight or star of the lot is a 14.54 ct fancy vivid blue internally flawless type IIb diamond named the Apollo which sold for $42.1 million dollars or nearly $2.9 million dollars per carat! And a 16 carat fancy intense pink VVS2 type IIa diamond named Artemis which sold for $15.3 million dollars or over $956 million dollars per carat for an astronomically sky high combined total of $57.4 million dollars! Though it fell short for the $70 million dollars previous estimates it would sell for but it still broke world records including the most expensive pair of earrings ever sold at auction!
The anonymous buyer who bid by phone had renamed the diamonds, The Apollo is now named The Memory Of Autumn Leaves and The Artemis is named The Dream Of Autumn Leaves. To be honest I like the former names better but the buyer have naming rights whether we like it or not and that's what money can do! 💸
