Of all the paintings I've seen in my life this one speaks to me the most. C itrine is the cheaper alternative birthstone for November. Most citrines are artificially colored quartz and natural color citrines are very rare. Citrine and amethyst  are both from the quartz family only that the latter is much more abundant & cheaper. Since quartz is one of the most common minerals in the world citrines can be found in almost every countries including The Philippines. The color of citrines are mosty subdued yellow almost brown or brownish yellow to brown yellow. The highest prized citrines are a vivid pure golden yellow to golden orange but they are rarely found in natural colors. Citrines are believed to be the most powerful gems to those who believe in the magic of crystals which is good news coz citrines being quartz are readily available at reasonable prices.  Because of the relatively affordable price of citrines it is one of the first gems mineral collectors or jewelry connoisseurs can own together with amethyst & blue topaz.

In fact last week the goldsmith misunderstood the lenght of the ring he thought I meant 0.5cm which in fact it is clearly written on my sketch as 5cm! So he has no choice but to remake it according to the actual design & specifications without additonal costs except that he asked money for additional 10 grams of precious metal to work with totalling 27 grams! O ctober has various gemstones that the colored stones industry wanted to promote but only opals  & pink tourmaline are in my opinion traditional October birthstones though pink tourmaline is considered a substitute which is to me it doesn't really make sense since opals are readily available & can be worn by both sex while pink tourmaline is quite feminine.  My mesmerizing 1.86ct step-cut deep purplish pink tourmaline soon to be set into jewelry! Tourmaline however comes in all the colors of the rainbow but it is only the pink tourmaline that is considered an October birthstone as it is the most common color for tourmalines though considered very rare & the finest pink tourmalines can sell for as much as $3k dollars or more per carat!  Opals on the other hand can sell for as much as $20k dollars per carat especially the Australian black opals with red & rainbow play of colors. I  am a traditionalist and choosing between opal & pink tourmaline as the birthstone for October I chosed opals for they are more unique and rare in the finest qualities. Opals comes in various qualities & pricepoints. Though the rarest opals have a pitch black bodycolor with red & rainbow play of colors I tend to like sky blue opals with play of color as it reminds me of the clear sky.  Opals are one of the very first gems I've collected in fact the 3rd gem variety I've owned & my first opals was a beautiful trio of pink crystal opals that I gave to my now estranged sister. M y new power bracelet! M y 3rd jewelry project for 2017!  The design had been chosen and the stones selected  all in an impromptu just early morning today! Now the my avant-garde pinky ring design is ready to be made! It took me only a few minutes to finalized & sketched what I had in mind. Days before, selecting which precious stones to be used for the ring is a daunting task coz I had a few options & I couldn't decide until the last minute. It's like judging beauty contestants and choosing which is the most beautiful of them all...
