The Birthstone For January: Red Garnet

The birthstone for January is the red garnet. There are many garnet varieties in all the colors of the rainbow but the true birthstone is the red pyrope, almandine or rhodolite garnet.

Red Pyrope Garnet- is usually dark brownish red and pure ruby reds are rarer and much more valuable. Pyrope is the most common variety of garnet and one of the cheapest semi-precious stones and are abundant but large fine quality reds can be quite valuable.


Almandine Garnet - are usually dark red but when they are bright and pure red in coloration it is quite desirable and valuable.



Rhodolite Garnet - is a mixture of pyrope and almadine usually purplish red resembling fine rubies. It is my personal favorites among red garnets and can be quite valuable as well.

Am I Materialistic? That's a wonderful question ladies & gentlemen! Despite my recent aquisition of this extremely rare vivid orange diamond from Leibish & Co. I don't think I am materialistic  because materialistic people only care the most about expensive things and buying them for the sake of their image. Like people who buys a overpriced luxury leather goods or branded items like Havaiinas rubber flip flops over regular rubber flip flops or iPhones versus regular smartphones which work pretty much desame and you still can't fuck both, or people who only takes care of imported expensive breed of dogs or cats and totally avoid regular ordinary pets or those who only wear branded clothes and underwear like Victoria's Secret lingeries which people would never see anyway. Lost Ancient Philippine Goldsmith Technique

Last June  I blogged  about the lost ancient goldsmithing technique of ancient filipinos that no modern jewelers could replicate that are being displayed at The Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas Museum and Ayala Museum in Makati.  Today there is a revival of that lost jewelry making technique but no matter how hard modern jewelers tried to replicate the old ways of jewelry making they cannot copy an exact replica coz they've been missing something that we no longer have in modern times and I have this feeling that the ancient filipino goldsmiths are using ancient alien technology to make elaborate jewelries.  The granulation technique of the ancient filipino jewelries is the best in the history of mankind!
